Default what to replace the rear 8's with?

I have decided for now I can live without real subs. I have replaced all the speakers except the rear deck.

what I want to do is just get some better speakers in there and run the 8 speaker system like it is now.

I have a 4 channel Kappa Infinity I am going to run it all off. right now I am just running it off a good Pioneer Premier 860mp.

when I install the amp its going to kill them cheap oem speakers.

Default similar setup

I decided ther same thing.

The rear 8's are an oddball speaker: They are 8" (-ish) but they are mounted on a risen platform bracket so the hole in the deck is the size of a 6.5" (like a cone with the point down - its wider up higher).

If you are using the factory wiring harness, remember these are wired in parallel with the rear door. In the stock arrangement they are both 8 ohm speakers in parallel, delivering 4 ohm impedance to the head unit.

yes I know they are wired in with the doors . if they are 8ohm then what is the door originally?

I have replaced all the doors with some other aftermarket 4ohm drivers.

what did you end up using in the rear?

Parts Express has a lot of options. So does Madisound

The doors were 8 ohm also, When run in parallel they add up to the 4 ohm the HU sees.

I replaced my doors with 4 ohm speakers and left the 8's in the deck (parcel shelf). That way its a 4 and an 8 in parallel which gives 3.667 ohm. I installed an amp that is stable down to 2 ohm and it works great.

I still havent decided what to use but so far Im ok with leaving the 8" deck speakers

thats exactly what I have done. ran 3 different aftermarket head units so far with no problem but I have a amp I am going to use soon.

I just cant spare trunk space for a box so rear deck it has to be.
