Default Engine Wiring Harness Help

will the engine wiring harness from a 2005 S40 fit a 2007 S40?
Will all the parts from a 2005 S40 fit a 2007 S40?
I am new to the forum and new to Volvos as well. I have a lot of experience with cars, but mostly first generation Camaros (building two currently).
I am looking to purchase a 2007 S40 that currently will not run, the motor will turn over, but it will not crank.
The motor in the 2007 was installed by the second owner because the timing belt broke on the first owner. After the motor was installed the Used motor (pulled from a 2006 S70) would not run and the owner was told the car needed a new computer so the owner did not want to invest the money and sold the car to the current owner.
The current owner has had the vehicle in the shop and his mechanic told him he needs a new wiring harness. Now the current owner of the 07 does not want to invest the money to buy a new wiring harness.
A friend gave me a 2005 S40 with 80K miles because the timing belt broke and he did not want to repair it.
Is it possible to use the 2005 as a donor car for the 2007?
Does anyone have any tips on how to verify the wiring harness is bad?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

An engine from a 2007 V70 will not work in a 2007 S40.

Thank you for the reply. I was incorrect in saying the engine came from a V70, the donor engine came from a 2006 S70.

There is no such car. The S70 died in 2000.

Thank you
Seems like I have a lot of research to do to verify what's actually in the car.

What do you mean it will not work?
It will fit but not run?
It will not interchange at all?
If it will fit but not run, why? Is it because the computers are different or the wiring harness is different?

The 07 V70 is a totally different platform.

I would avoid this car. Put a head on the 05 instead.

Thank you, that's what I am going to do.
Although this has peaked my curiosity. Is there a way to tell what model vehicle a motor came out of?

Any chance you can get a picture of the engine?

Here are the pic s from the 07, I may get it for a parts car for my 05.
If I can determine if the head off of it will work on mine.
He's dropped the price considerably (to the point I can't buy a head as cheap as his entire car).

That is the correct style engine. It is from a P1, but depending on year, might have some differences.

P1 is the chassis. It includes 2004.5-2011 S40 and V50, all C30s and hardtop C70s.
