***first post*** A viable car at my budget...?
As a lurker of this forum for quite some time I feel I've already been introduced to a wealth of information regarding these cars and feel much better equipped in my search for a first Volvo. However, there is still one question that prevails:
Is it feasible for me (an incoming college student, relatively adroit with garage tools) to own a reliable Volvo purchased for under $4000? I'm searching preferably for wagons and (thought it seems to be highly unlikely) a manual transmission, though I will consider just about any model as long as the value is there.
Glad to be a part of the forum

I have a $4000 one. I think it's feasible if the major repairs have been done by the previous owner. I also know a guy who is buying cars for parts so I can have them for a good price. Better check for one owned by an old person and with a good working transmission.
