[ADVICE] New Tires for '06 S40 T5
Hi all. It's about time for new tires, and honestly I don't know what would be recommended. My vehicle is a 2006 S40 T5 (not AWD) with under 35,000 miles. Tread bars are getting close, so it's time for a replacement.
Still has the original 205/55R16 91V Michelin set. Can't compare them to others, but is there another set that would be recommended? Is there a "better" set out there?
Only real issue is the "cracking" along tire (sorry for the blurry pic):
I would go through the dealership since I'm due for service anyway, but I don't believe I extended the warranty. So this means I'll likely find another place in town (I'm located in the South btw) for service (unless the Enthusiasts suggest sticking with the dealership?).
Thanks for any suggestions!

EDIT: I just did a quick search on tirerack.com and Sears and looks like there are a wide variety of tires/brands to choose from (and I'll end up spending anywhere from ~$280-1000 for a set of 4, pre-installation). Perhaps it might be easier to ask is there a brand that I should avoid? I'll likely end up spending $500-700 before installation (how much is a typical installation?).

Guess I'm answering my own question haha.
Got a quote from the dealership: $664 installed for the set of Michelin 91V tires.
However a friend of mine (who has an S60 and drives very aggressively...he had to replace his original set at 5,000 miles) mentioned how he got a set from Japan (called Nankang) that weren't "Z rated" but under $500 mounted with directional tread.
Anybody else know about the Nankang?
