I have a 2001 Volvo v70xc, I had a Problem with the steering, when I turn to right or to the left, the steering gets heavy and soft, goes like bumping when you turn to any side. My mechanic told me was the steering rack, was replaced for a used one, then after still the same, he replace the steering pump, still the same, What it should be? I heard, these cars have a electric power steering and a steering column control module, it should be something like this or something else? Thanks

 

Check the power steering fluid bottle.

Its something in the Power steering oil bottle . Actually after he replace the pump, the wheel was working well but just for a short period of time then a few hours after start doing the same, it needs a flush on the system, do you think that will help?

When driving does it make noise almost like it is low on fluid?

 

No..It just keeps heavy and soft when you turn to either side. Like bumping the wheel not smooth as supose to be.

 

Sounds almost like the used rack is bad.
