Post 1993 Volvo 240 Crank but no start issues.

Hi, I have looked at probably 100 different posts here and other places but have yet to resolve anything so I will ask myself.

So the story goes:

I had a lambda warning light in my dash, so I replaced the lambda and the MAF. I probably shouldn't just replace stuff when it is weird but this was lambda (which can be funky in my opinion), and the OBD wouldn't give a reading, so I just went on a whim. This resolved the issue with the lambda warning light until maybe 6 months later. where it started running like a tractor when first started up, then would go crazy on a high idle (would be gone by just switching the car off and on, even mid-driving) then a bit later it would show these starting issues, where it would crank over then not start. i shrubbed it off as winter cold (Norway so -20 celsius) but then it would not start in the morning but start fine after work when i wanted to troubleshoot it.

Then later now it would show an issue where it just would not start at all, it cranks fine. So i decided to troubleshoot. ill put my troubleshooting and results below.

Swap out crank position censor that the wire was messed up on --> still does not start

Suddenly i realised that the fuel pump was not turning on with the car intermittently--> jumped it --> still does not start (i only jumped power to fuse 4, not sure if anything else is needed)

Then i took the fuel pump relay out and put it back in after inspecting it (it looks perfect, no solder cracks or corroded copper contacts.) --> when re-inserted i could hear the fuel pump power on as it normally should, so then the car started up PERFECTLY, hasnt ran better in a few years, and the lambda warning light was gone. --> Then suddenly after 30 minutes ish the lambda came back and the car started showing small but similar symptoms to before, and then after being stored overnight in the garage it would not start at all the day after. cranking but not firing at all.

How does the experts of the world think i should proceed from here. i think the issue must be fuel, but i have been unable to properly test spark/air
