Default Crank no start, need help

A couple weeks back i went to start up my 1989 740 GL and it cranked but didn’t start. I was driving it maybe 45 minutes prior with no issues. I had an electrical issue with the in tank fuel pump, but got it fixed. I tested the relay and the main fuel pump, both of which work. Also have to mention that i do have spark. What else should i check for?

If you are SURE you have spark, then it is either a fuel delivery issue or a timing issue. The B230 is a non-interference engine, so if the timing belt slips or breaks the engine will still turn over but not start. A quick way to tell if it is a fuel or a spark/timing issue is this. Take a can of starting fluid and spray a 2-3 second burst into the air intake of the engine, then try to start it. If it tries to start, or starts and runs for a second or two, then your spark and timing are ok and you have a fuel delivery issue. If it does not start, then you most likely have no spark or a timing issue.

Good luck.

If your fuel pumps are running and you have spark then you should check to see if the injectors are working. Check the radio suppression relay on the radiator fill tank and also check the CPS connector. I usually replace my FP relay and my radio supp. relay every year and keep the old one as a spare.

Default Update, refined area of issue

Opened the fuel line right before the injectors and cranked it, fuel comes out. What would cause all 4 injectors to stop working all at once? I attached an image of the assembly as well as where fuel (atleast) makes it. Ideas?

Thanks for all the help so far

Did you do the starter fluid in the intake test. Just because you have fuel in the fuel rail doesn't mean it will fire if the injectors are not working.

Yes, and it started.

Replace the radio suppression relay on the radiator fill tank. This relay powers all of the injectors.

I tested the power to each injector and got the right amount. I also used a fuse tester to test the radio suppression relay, and it passed. With that considered, could it still be the relay?

Did you use a NOID test on the injectors. If the RSR is good then the only other issue could be the crank position tester. Also what was your fuel pressure when tested. I believe it should be around 35psi. Also the relay may have a cracked board so I would replace it.
