Exclamation 1999 s80 flywheel replacement

Hi.....just bought a 1999 s80 with 125k. It made a funny sound when starting(grinding), I bought it anyway. It would not start one day, the starter just spun. I replace the starter...still spinning. I took a good look at the flywheel ....not good..teeth missing and worn away...Is it a big deal to replace the flywheel. I bought one today..

Help

Yes it is a pain the transmission needs to come out. The S80 tranny is crammed in there pretty tight.

Would it be easier to pull the motor?

It might be. I know even with the proper tools doing it the right way it is a PITA.

I just talked to a few local mechanics and they both said let a pro do it....$100.00 flywheel...$1000.00 labor......just not right....
