Hi,

I have a 1999 Volvo S80 and the fuel gauge is not reading correctly. When I top off the tank the needle never goes above close to 3/4 and the tank is empty when the needle is at 1/4 or reading 130 - 160 on the screen. In addition the digital fuel gauge bounces up and down and both the digital and the needle start off showing lower amounts of fuel and then show a higher reading after I've been driving for a while...I try to keep the tank topped off but had a close call running out of fuel doing 80 on I95. Does anyone have an idea of what the problem is an if I can fix it myself?

It may just be cheaper to get a used Instrument cluster...may want to try car-part.com
