Try replacing your spark plugs. Does the car stutter when you try to start it? Can the key turn all the way to position 3? Is the car parked in Neutral or Park?

The car doesn't turn over or crank at all. I have tried to start in neutral and park. Had a friend look at it and he thinks ignition is loose or starter is bad? I was trying to just get it home. Its stuck in another town. Also it does turn to position 3. Thanks for the reply!

Not a problem! Glad that you were able to reply quickly as well. The key turns to position 3 meaning that the transponder chip in the key is good, so it's probably not a problem with your key. When you take your key out of the ignition the steering wheel should lock. When you turn your key to Position 2, does the wheel unlock?

Try doing this, lock your steering wheel so you can't turn it one way, then put your key in, and turn it to Position 2. If you can't turn your steering wheel the way that you couldn't when you locked it, it could be a steering lock problem. I've never really had a problem like this to my 2006 V50, it had a bad ignition once and the key got stuck, and when I first got the car the ignition would tick in Position 1 (going a bit off topic)

Maybe get it towed home or something.

Now I'm not sure whether this will help you if at all, but I found some links about an ignition not cranking. If you can't find anything/if I/we can't find anything then I suggest that you get it inspected by your local Volvo dealer. Or if you have one of those car service module things (which mechanics use to see error codes on cars) try it, because you might find some sort of error code which you can diagnose yourself!

Hi again bengals25lucas,

I was researching again about the starting problem you had.

I suggest that you try this link, maybe the previous owner didn't fold down the seats properly? This is for a 2004 S40 though, I had a 2006 V50 and never had this problem with the folding rear seats.

Still worth a try!
