2005 XC90 V8 Front Muffler Replacement
I have a small leak in my exhaust just in front of the front muffler (or resonator?). There is a joint in the piping in front of the front muffler assembly, and it appears the gasket is leaking. I don't know if this leak is a contributing factor, but the front muffler has started to corrode and delaminate as well.
I am looking for repair options. I can find little or no information on this topic, and have found very little information on OEM replacement parts.
I am wondering if I can have a muffler shop cut out the corroding muffler and weld in an aftermarket replacement muffler/resonator and necessary piping.
Does anyone have any experience or recommendations/cautions with this issue?
Thanks.

Follow up on my post - it took my XC90 to a local muffler shop. They cut out the resonator and replaced it with one of there stock aftermarket resonators. It took them less than 30 minutes and total cost was $100. They told me up-front that it might sound a little 'throatier'. I can't tell much difference - just glad I was able to avoid a huge cost trying to find an OEM replacment.
