Default 2009 C70 - Should I buy?

Hello All -

I'm comtemplating purchasing a preowned 2009 C70, with about 30k miles on the odo. I've been researching on the internet, and thought that I would check in with actual owners.

What should I be aware of regarding this car? Any particular problems that are common with this particular year and model?

The car that I'm looking at was taken in on trade at a local car dealer, and the sales manager is a good friend of mine. So, I'm not too worried about the deal, but I do want to shake out any potential mechanical problems that may be lurking. The car looks and drives beautifully.

Thanks -

Christopher

1) it's a volvo and not many things go wrong with them, as they are very dependable cars 2) being that it is an 09 it should still have some type of manufactures warranty remaining on it. 3) the newer c70's have the hard top and not the cloth tops which are way better and lastly if you can get a deal on this car you should really jump at it...check the maintenance records but with only having 30,000 miles I am sure it would be fine...I would also run a car fax to ensure that it has not been in any accidents, not sure why someone who spends $39,000 or more on a car would get rid of it 1 year later so I would do your home work and see just what if any issue this vehicle has and if everything checks out I would tell you to buy this car and you will have many years of enjoyment with the car, there are still a lot of miles left on this car if the maintenance has kept up...last thing to consider it is not cheap to own a volvo, if you have to pay for the repairs once the warranty expires and not able to do the repairs yourself it can get pretty expensive, however as I stated this car should still have a warranty left on it! good luck on whatever decision you decide...

Thanks for the reply and the information. I have the car now and will be driving it for the next 5 days. I have an 80 mile round trip commute to work each day, so that should be give me a pretty good read on how the car drives.

I have not had a chance to go through the car with a fine-tooth comb just yet, but will be doing that. My biggest concerns with buying a pre-owned car are 1) It's been wrecked, and/or 2) There's been some type of mechanical problem.

The maintenance cost thing does not really suprise me, I figured that it may be on par with the cost associated with other European cars. I do plan on buying an extended warranty if I buy the car.

Based on everything that I've been reading, there seems to be no systemic problems with this car like bad transmissions, or whatever.

Feedback from anybody else will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Christopher

It's a C70. Why would you NOT buy it? Seriously, if it checks out and you're happy with the price then go for it.
