Books say the timing belt should be done at 120k but from a few google searches, I see it's probably best to go ahead and do it. So I'm going to get the whole timing belt kit from IPD along with the water pump, and have that done. I had the plugs replaced at 75k.
While they're in there, should anything else be serviced or replaced? Thanks In advance.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm just worried about the tensioner failing. I've seen so many people post up horror stories about waiting and then the tensioner fails. There's a very good chance we are taking this vehicle on a road trip in a few months which will take us accross a few states, and many days of driving. The last thing I need is for it to fail on that trip.
I was thinking of having them replace the serpentine belt while they're in there as well, just so I don't have to bring it in again. And it needs the cabin air changed for sure.

It's a peace of mind. But I noticed timing belt wear also depends on time (years) and driving habits. A car mostly driven highway at constant acceleration will have a belt that wears less than say a car only driven in the city. Also, yours is 4-5 years old, so it's not affected by time. If you happen not to have time before the trip, it's easy to remove the belt cover and give it a close inspection. And yes, tensioner and idle pulley are to be done with the belt, I don't think they can prematurely fail as the car is not really old.
I'm curious what others have to say about putting an aftermarket water pump. Most seem to agree the water pump doesn't need to be changed with the first belt, and also that some aftermarket water pumps are of questionable quality. Is IPD OEM stuff?

Having this work done now, but one more question.
I ordered the timing belt kit from IPD. Everything is the same aside from the tensioner, which looks like the older style one. IPD says they think they sent the wrong part, while the local Volvo dealer says they went back to the old style and that's the correct one to use.
Anyone have any ideas on this?
