Question 2012/2013 XC60 Oil Consumption - Big Problem?

I am thinking of buying a used 2012/2013 XC60, and I have noticed a lot of people mention excessive Oil Consumption issues and resulting repairs. How often does one see this problem? Are there ways to check this problem prior to buying the car. Is there anything else to be concerned about in used 2012/2013 XC60? Thank You.

Depends on where you are located. I'm in California and I can't count the number of oil consumption jobs I've done

Just purchase a car with a warranty. People are lazy these days, if they have to add oil between changes, they cry like little kids. If a car is not using more than 1 quart per 1,000 miles, it's fine.

1 quart per 1000 miles is an out-of-date general "specification" and does not apply to the car being discussed. There have been plenty of legitimate oil consumption issues that are not just people being lazy.

If volvo would only go back to doing 5k oil change interval it wouldn’t be a problem.
