240 Shakey Idle

240 Shakey Idle
Well, I've read all the other post and thought I would try some of them. The problem is the idle shakes the car. Not a lot, only like someone isslighty rocking the car. I took the idle control off and cleaned it as well as the throttle body. Both were in needof it. Put it all back together and the same thing happens. It had new plugs, wires and cap already. If I give a little more gas it smoothes out fine. Could it be the idle control is bad?

RE: 240 Shakey Idle
Please note that I'm not privy to the 240s but will do my best.
If the idle shakes the car but smooths out once you add some gas, the idle speed is too low. Usually correct idle speed is between 750-850 RPM for many cars.
You may want to check for correct fuel pressure, vacuum leak, EGR/PCV systems, dist. rotor, fuel filter, etc... If it has OBD-I, I would pull codes first. In the case of 850, poor idle seems to be due to faulty MAF sensor, Coolant Temp Sensor etc... as well as the above items.
Sorry I couldn't help you better. Try posting this in the 240 forum.
