RE: My 96 850 R is a shakey
Easy way to check the suspension is to jack the car up, take the wheels off and look. Check the csohcks for any signs of leaks, look at all the rubber bushings (Sway bar, end links, A-Arms, etc) and check the tightness of the bolts. Next I would check all the motor mounts and transmission mounts.
Are there any noises or a feeling as if something is loose when you accelerate and feel the shake?

I had the same problem with my 850 Turbo. It ended up being a CV joint. When I stepped on the gas it would vibrate or shake pretty bad, but as soon as I backed off it stopped. Mine was the inside CV on the passenger side - it also did it very slightly going hard around a freeway ramp to the leftwhen the passenger side suspension was compressed.

RE: My 96 850 R is a shakey
Any new info on this? Mine has been doing the same thing, and it's getting worse, to the point where when I am going up a hill 70MPH the front end visibly shakes right and left. I have checked everything and don't see anything worn. I have replaced the upper motor mount, and the spring seat so I know those aren't the problem. I suspect inner cv, but it feels tight, no up or down movement, how do you check these? I really need to figure this out, because I am afraid with all that shaking that something is going to break or come loose!

I think I have figured out why mine is shaking, the lower right motor mount is shot. Once I get it replaced, I'll let you know if the shake is gone. By the way, Groton sells these mounts for less than $30, the cheapest I found locally is $85. I told the local guy how much I could buy it for, and he wanted to know where because that's less than he can buy them for!
