Default 240 wagon light issues.......

Hello everyone, I just found this forum and it is a great help!. I have a 92' 240 wagon that has some light issues. The wires going through the hinges on the left side (brake lights, defrost, and license plate lamps) are sheared off. There is another set of wires that come out of the headliner that are the same colors as the hinge wires with the exception of a green wire instead of a blue. Do I wire those up instead or do I tryto pull enough slack to wire the originals?. Also the rear wiper will work when hatch is up but as soon as hatch is closed it dosn't work but the fluid does...... I am stumped so any info would be helpful. Thanks

I've had a couple of these. Don't try to splice at the hinge. Tape a string or small wire to each end of the harness. then support the hatch and unbolt the hinge. Now cut the harness where it is broken and pull the harness and string back through the hinge. replace a good 4" to 5" section of the harness and use the string to pull it back through both sides of the hinge and splice on the other side. You should end up with new wire where the hinge does all the work. Good luck. PS the washer works because the electric pump is down in the wheel well, not in the hatch.

Thanks sgt. I will try this today. Is the power to the wiper on the other side or on the left as well?
