From everything that i have read, once an ETM begins to fail (as mine is doing now) the car will enter "limp home mode" and will stall and the gas pedal will be unresponsive. I have been having the opposite problem recently. My ETS light has remained on for about a month now. Just recently cleaned the throttle body which solved my rough idle. But now when my ETM begins to act up, i get too much throttle and my car, without my foot on the pedal, accelerates out uncontrollably.

Is this just another symptom of ETM failure? Or possibly something else?

 

If you have an ETM light and it has not been replaced, just bite the bullet and have it done.
