'99 S70 PCV hose issue
Hi all,
Not sure whether this thread belongs in gen chat or S70 section, so apologies in advance if the latter. I'm in the middle of an FCPEuro PCV kit install on my wife's 1999 S70 non-turbo base model. Upon attempting reinstalling new parts supplied, I've determined that the "oil trap hose" (Volvo #1271771) does not fit my application. This hose fits applications where the side port on the oil trap is at the same elevation as the vent port on the engine block. On my engine, the port on the engine is lower than the port on the oil trap by about 1/2 the diameter of the port. Through some searching, the tech svc man at FCP Euro determined that I need the oil trap hose (Volvo #1271653), which by all accounts, does NOT fit the '99 non-turbo motor. He says that this hose is supposed to fit only turbo model S70's. So since I know it's not a turbo model, determined by VIN and visual inspection, I'm wondering if the car has had an engine (block) change before we bought it? I'm not sure how to determine this, unless someone can give some guidance on how to decode engine and head number stampings. Any help is greatly appreciated.
