Default Adaptive Cruise Control

i have a 2018 XC90 with Adaptive Cruise Control, and I’m a fan of that feature. It lets me speed up automatically when traffic is flowing on the highway, and slows me down when traffics slows. When traffic slows sharply, it slows me sharply.

Which leads me to my question . . .

Does anyone one know whether the deceleration using the Adaptive Cruise Control triggers the brake lights? I mean, it’s nice that it slows me when I need it, but if the guy behind doesn’t know that, I’m just trading a front-end collision for a potential rear-end collision.

FYI that I asked at the Volvo dealer. They told me that, yes, the brake lights activate when the cruise control slows the car.

Probably explains why I haven’t been rear-ended yet.

😉
