Hi folks, been browsing for a while and thought I'd pick some brains.

I have a '96 850 2.5 10v (petrol) which a paid £300 for about 2yrs ago it's got 325K on the clock, it perfect size for carting all my tools and gear around (I'm a plasterer) and has plenty of room for carting the family around as well!!!!.

In the time I've owned it I never had anything major go wrong and no breakdowns, fair enough I've had to fix things here and there but all were minor, it's the first volvo I've owned but won't be the last.

So the advice I'm looking for is what's my next volvo? Well it needs to be an estate and I'll like something with a little bit more 'poke'!!! The V70 is really what I'm aiming at due to the fact that it's got the same 'square' back end as the 850 (well it is the 850 upgrade!) Obviously I would fancy a T5, but what's the MPG like (I'm getting about 30mpg at the mo).

Any other ideas of what I should be looking at? I'm looking at models around 200/01 but if a newer model at the right price came along I'd go for that.

So what models would you recommend?

 

what ever you do go for the turbo. It boost fuel economy, but if you need to go fast you can really feel the difference with it. I'm not sure if they had the T5 for the xc70 though. i think they only made T6 for all the xc models but well worth the extra money.

 

Notbeen lookiing at the XC mainly as 4x4 'offroaders' go I think I could get something better for my needs cheaper.
I'm only looking at the V70's because the have the same space in the back as my 850 and I need the space for my tools and kit, but I suppose if an XC came ion at the right price I'd consider it (well I'd have a test drive for sure!)
But yea your right about a turbo just to give you the extra poke when you need it!
