Default Annoying whistling noise..

Hi all,

I bought a 1997 Volvo 960 a few months ago, and this winter it has started putting off a really LOUD and REALLY annoying whistling noise. The whistling noise happens when the car is moving, and the pitch increases when I give it more gas. The whistle only seems to go away when I get the car to 3500-4500 RPMs. However, when the car falls back down to 2000-3000 RPMs, the whistling noise comes back. The whistling noise ONLY happens if the car is moving, and it does not seem to matter if the engine is warm or cold.

Any ideas what this may be? If it helps at all, I also recently had an intake manifold gasket fixed (vacuum leak), serp belt replaced, new spark plugs put it, and a new set of winter wheels/tires on.

Thanks!

My guess would be the winter tires. I have a set of winters that I got with one of my cars and I never put them on because of the noise. I am running just fine in the snow with all season radials.
