Hello, I am new to the community with my first Volvo, it’s a automatic 1989 740 GL B230FS1 M66 non Turbo sedan. I need to tow a motorcycle so I’ve been looking into acquiring a tow hitch to install so I can put a small UHaul on the back. I was wondering if my old slug can handle it. I’ve been searching through all the forums here and elsewhere and can’t seem to find the answers I’m looking for. Many are for manuals/turbos. Has anyone towed with an automatic like mine/ installed a tow hitch ? If anyone could help me out with some answers or places to find answers it would be greatly appreciated.

 

Some looking online showed 2k Lbs max with no trailer brakes, 3.5k Lbs max with trailer brakes. These include the trailer. There may be some info in the owners manual if you have one. The manual would be the best resource
