Default Brake lights stay on

The other night, my brake lights came on without anyone being in my 2005 XC90. I looked on You Tube and found a video on disconnecting to brake circuit beaker which did not turn off the lights. So I went into the cargo panel to take up the fuses for the brake lights which did not turn them off so those mist not be where they are located! I had to disconnect the battery not to run the battery down. Now I cannot open the rear hatch. Any advice on both issues? I called the Volvo dealer and they told me there is no manual release and I have to reconnect the battery, I said how to I reconnect the battery if I can't get the tailgate open. Then he said I don't know! Followed by Check the brake fluid

can you open the hood? there should be some points where you can attach an external battery to power the trunk release. I recall seeing some similar discussions on other posts.
