Default Lights stay on drains battery

On my s60 the wife parked it last night and said the rear lights were on after she was out of the car she didnt say anything to me this morning it wouldent start Im going to go home tonight and check the battery does anybody have any insight on this issue?any help will be appreciated thanks.........Jerry

which rear lights, inside lights or tail lights?

well if the lights come on they must be getting a ground when they shouldn't so check the grounds which are on on both sides underneath the back seat. make sure there is no water or corrosion inside the connectors. I am a tech at a dealer and had a s60 with identical problem. i checked the ground and found a bunch of water and all the connectors were corroded causing back feed and intermitantly turning the lights on by themself. the water was everywhere in the car under the carpet was about 2in of standing water. i found that the LR sunroof drain tube hose was not installed from the factory. if u have any more questions just ask ill help if i can i have access to all technical info at work
