Question buying a 1987 240DL

i found a 1987 240DL on craigslist and im very interested in it, i need it to get me to school and work. my question is, is this a good car to get me around? and are there any problems with these cars i should be aware of? and while going to look at this car what should i be looking at and what questions should i be asking?

thanks in advance and please feel free to add anything you think i may want to know.

For some reason I think I already answered this question. That is a real old car. If you are not a tinkerer, run. On the other side of the coin, if the car starts, drives, and stops when you take it for a drive, keep the price low and drive it to school. The things to check on the B230 engine is that the timing belt has been changed, the flame trap is clean, and that it's not smoking.
