Need selling advice, 1987 240DL with 45,585 original miles
Hey everyone! I'm brand new, sorry to pick your brains with my first post but I really need some advice.
Selling a 1987 White Volvo 240DL with 46,000 original miles. That is not a typo.
This was purchased from the owner of Oskuie Service Center in Fairfax Virgina (Volvo mechanic and dealer) that was his mother's car after she could not drive it anymore. I got it with about 21,000 miles on it.
I have put about 20,000 miles on it in 4 years of ownership, we bought a new car about 3 months ago and it's just not getting any use other then a drive to work once a week just to drive it. The inside looks brand new, the only thing not original is I swapped out the factory push button AM/FM radio for a CD player (with front AUX input for a iPhone or mp3 player) and upgraded the speakers (2 up front) I still have the factory one somewhere if you want it.
The car has been a tank and runs like a champ, there are no issues. Good gas mileage, drives and shifts very smooth.
My question is price, I was looking to get $2200 for it but a few car people have said that might be underpriced and I should ask some volvo enthusiest, as I don't really know any I figured I would ask you guys, is that too little, just right? I have had calls already but I wanted to make sure I'm not to low before I reply to them. Thanks soooo much for any advice! here are 2 pics

+1 on eBay. As long as you have a legit trail of the car's history as far as mileage...eBay it. Personally, I feel the 244 is the least desirable of all 240's but many people love them. You just might get way north of 5k for it. If you're new to eBay, be sure to list it for 7 days and begin the listing on Sunday so it will end on Sunday. Items ending on Sunday end to bring more money than those ending on, say, Tuesday.

I would not pay much over a grand for a 240, but this one, that price is just right (except for the blue interior, just not my cup of tea). That's not to say that's all you can get like the guys above have said. Volvo enthusiasts on eBay will pay top dollar for 240's and parts.
I would say don't settle for below $3,000.
List it $4,400?
Nice pictures BTW, have anymore?
Have any records?
Map Pockets intact?
Floor Mats?
Any accessory gauges?
Things to boast about?

Clean and wax it until it absolutely shines inside and out. ArmorAll the bejeeezus out of the interior and under the hood as well. Take LOTS of pictures of the exterior and interior, list it for at least 7 days and start it at a very low price (one dollar) with a reserve price that is your minimum acceptable offer ($3500?). Provide a free CarFax with the listing to document the mileage. That way eBay will back the odometer as valid. You'll get more than $4000 for sure. I've been watching the auctions for the last 2 months. Low mileage 240s like yours in good condition are always fetching more than $4000 on eBay.

I'm going to take some good interior pics tomorrow, the passenger front map pocket has a small crack, the others look new
the floor mats are factory all weather color matched ones
what kind of accessory gauges would there be? my dash looks pretty basic to me
Not much to boast about, it has a overhead light, glove box, looks like it was a pretty basic model
Any other things I should look out for?

Bidders on eBay buy with their eyes. Make sure the pictures are in sharp focus, well framed, in good light, cropped to show essential detail, and with an attractive and interesting background. Take them in good light (early morning or late afternoon-sunset); what photographers call "beauty light".
A low starting price is like blood in the water for sharks. The reserve may turn some bidders off, but most will stick with it until it goes over $3000 (my guess). Even the bottom feeders will realize that this one will not go cheap. I'm not big on buying expensive odometers, but people do go nuts for such cars. There one on Cars.com with 18K miles on it for sale at a dealership for over $18,000.00.
