Default c70 tires

My 2006 c70 came with Pirelli P-Zero tires that were shot (in the middle) at 7.200 miles. Because of that I replaced them with Michelin Sport AS (all season) which did not have enough sidewall bead to protect the rims from curbs which lead to all four being gouged. Now with 21,000 miles on the Michelins, I find that one of them is showing cord in the middle (they were not over inflated). Does anyone have a solution for tires that protect the rims and that will wear evenly?

Check out the Fuzion tires. They are designed to protect the rims. Not too expensive either. I have 225/45/17 on my S60.
