Hi, I 'm trying to help my dad find the problem with his volvo v70 2.4petrol est. he's tryed all sorts and garages can't find the problem either,..... The car runs well untill you need to stop at a round about, junction, traffic lights, then the engine just cuts out, starts again fine.you just cant let the engine run without actually moving, but then all of a sudden a few days go by and it's fine then plays up twice as bad for a week. its seems worse when the day temperature is warm, as we have had a few of those lately, it's a puzzle?? can anyone help???????? thanks

 

Sounds like something on the idle side. When the car switches from throttle to idle it doesn't make the change well. Try looking for a vacuum leak. If that doesn't help, try replacing the idle control valve/unit. What year is the car? That will help others help you.
