For the past 3 years the apt. complex I lived at had a car port which preserved my 1990 Volvo 240 DL really good. I have to move and my new apt. has no car port. I don't want to use a car cover everyday because I don't want to call attention to my car and where I live. So, how fast is my car going to wear out from the sun? Is there anything else I can do to protect it?

 

Where do you live? Here in Western WA the sun really isn't a concern. My '95 854 is still in great shape (as far as paint fade) and it's parked outside year round.

 

Honestly, its a 20 year old car. I can't imagine a cover would bring that much attention to it. California car covers, or whatever they are called, are known to be great quality. Fairly pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Otherwise I would suggest getting some tint to protect the interior, and just try to keep it nice and waxed.
