Deep paint scratches, door opening (S80 '10)
Hi,
I couldn't find a better subforum as this isn't exactly specific to just the S80.
Anyway, they say that a picture says more than a thousand words so I'll attach two of them. They were taken just after the area was washed and dried. There are far more scratches than the few the arrow points to. Since I neither have a compressor, paint gun, space with ventilation or any of the other luxuries, I'm going to have to make do with spray cans unfortunately. The end result is not going to look worse compared to what it looked like before anyway.
The S80 is my parents' car and has soon reached 250K miles (if my conversion from Swedish units is correct), and trying to keep it in good shape is something I attach some importance to. It was after all the car we siblings grew up riding and eventually driving ourselves.
So please, take a look at the photos and tell me what exactly I need and then the best course of action. Tips and tricks if you have any. Just as an example - sanding: which grits, how many sheets, etc. The more info the better. Simply talk to me as someone who is a lot more into mechanical work than restoration & paint work, knowing next to nothing. Really unfortunate at times!
I know the paint is Black Sapphire Pearl with code 452. So 2K from start to finish is a given for me, especially with our climate in mind. I also have a random-orbit sander I hope could come in handy somehow.
Thanks everyone
