I have a 99 S70 been a pretty good car, but now the door open ding sounds continuously and the dome light stays on all the time. Anyone know of a fix for this or a way around it? Maybe you had the problem before and got it repaired. Mechanic says replace the drivers door latch but I want to get a fix that is for sure and not a part replacement at $$$$ high cost without a fix. Appreciate your help.

 

My vote is for the door Latch assembly as well.

The switch that controls the lights is part of the latch assembly.

 

i half to close the door twice to make the light on the dash go out

 

Lube the latch real good while it is still working. Matter of fact, you may want to lube all of the door latches.

 

Jump the wires for the switch and be sure before you spend the money on the latch.
