Although my car was running fine, the check engine light came on so I took it to get checked out. I was told that the ECM computer thing would have to be replaced and would cost about 1000 bucks. Not being able to afford this, I will continue driving as is. What will be the effects of not having this replaced?

The light will stay on and as long as it is running great then don't worry about it for now.
Also have the dealer check for recalls on your car Depending on the year there was an upgrade for some of the early 850's.

 

There is a recall for a heat shield for my car that I haven't had the chance to take it to a dealer to get replaced. Thats another thing, instead of taking it to a dealers, I took my car to a foriegn car shop...it was the closet thing around.
