The speedometer on my 1998 S70 intermittently fails and I was told yesterday that I need a new ABS sensor for the cost of nearly $1000 for the part and installation. Shortly after receiving the bad news, I got a second opinion and was told that the control box needs to be rebuilt and the cost would be fairly reasonable. My "check engine" and ABS light are both on. The mechanic monkeyed with the control box wires, told me the speedometer would work for awhile and then fail again eventually. I drove away and he was correct. It's working, but I expect it to fail. Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom to impart? This is an old car, but at the moment I'm not in a position to purchase another one. Thanks in advance.
