Cool fooling a broken radio xc90

Hi all,
The particular car: 2005 xc90, but I suspect this is applicable to many, so I am posting it under general chat.
I want to use the built-in speakers with a non-Volvo radio, but I am afraid to disconnect any part of the factory stuff lest there be unintended consequences. I am willing to lose a) The back up alarm, b) the phone connection, c) the nav system, etc. I think that I should not leave the amplifier's outputs "floating". I think I should fool it into thinking that it's output is still going to the speakers. After cutting the speaker wires under the passenger seat, my plan is to jump across the loose ends with resistors... maybe a 33 watt 10 ohm resistor will fool the amp so it doesn't tell the car there is a problem. I will also be leaving the CD changer and all the dashboard stuff connected, but wrapped in bubble wrap and shoved to the back of the console.
Thoughts?
