Default Fuel injector

I own a 1992 Volvo 740 wagon how hard is it to replace the fuel injectors on this vehicle ? I get a trouble code for faulty injector so I figure replace the all .

Injectors RARELY fail. And if so it will be just one. What code do you have on a 1992?

In answer to your question they are easy to replace. But save your money for things that NEED to be replaced, with an old Volvo you will need plenty of $$ to keep it going.

113 is too rich or lean - yes it could be from a stuck open injector - or another injector problem - or a O2 sensor problem - or a lean condition from a damaged intake manifold gasket - after all these are pretty old injectors and o2 sensors. But - does the car run bad? Do you have a complaint? Or do you just have a check engine light? Some will disconnect the O2 sensor and see if the code comes back. The O2 sensor can change the mixture, but only very slightly, if it is working correctly..

to read up, check out this older thread:

https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...ow%20it%20runs.

Never done an injector on a 240 but mostly they just pop out and press in. There's an o-ring seal that can get hard after 20 or so years and create a air leak, so its something to test out - try spraying carb cleaner around the base of the injectors when the engine is running to see if any sucks in and bumps the idea.

Start with the basics – What’s the compression, age and condition of the copper plugs (don’t use platinum), cap rotor and spark plug wires? Poor idle can be simply a broken intake manifold gasket. Use carb cleaner and spray close to the gasket at each port – the idle will change if there is an air leak. Are there any other unmetered air leaks between the air filter and the intake valves? Isolate the miss firing cylinder by unplugging the injectors one at a time, Does the idle get worse or stay the same? Listen to the injectors click with a stethoscope (or long screwdriver) Do they sound the same?

If you think it is a bad injector remove the injector rail and swap the bad one to another cylinder. Did the miss fire move? If the injector is bad, replace just that one – with a bosch injector, not an aftermarket part.
