Default fuel pressure regulator?

Hi everyone. newbie question... i got my first volvo a couple of months ago, its an 02 s40 1.9t. i love this car, but im having a little trouble with a cylinder 4 misfire. ive replaced the plugs, wires, and coils. im not sure if its the injector or what, but it has trouble starting in the morning and it just doesnt accelorate like it used to. am i looking at a new fuel pressure regulator or maybe a burnt valve. any help would be greatly appreciated. oh, i had the check engine light turned off after i change all the ignition stuff and it hasnt came back on, but it still isnt running right and there is a whining noise coming from underneath the intake manifold.... thanks for any help

Default RE: fuel pressure regulator?

If I remember correctly, there may have been a problem with the throttle control for Drive-By-Wire system if so equipped. Or, some Volvos have ECUs that need to be upgraded. Try visiting a local AutoZone and let them diagnose for codes once again and make them show you the result. If there's no AutoZone near you, other franchise parts shops may provide similar services.

Have your engine compression-tested at a shop that specialises in Swedish/Euro makes and have their ASE Master Technician work on your car. This should reveal if you have internal mechanical problem or not. If the test turns out OK, then you have problem in the electronic engine control. Have a shop also check for fuel pressure.

I'm not familiar with the S40s and currently our top-dog, Moderator Tech is away for a little while. Sorry I couldn't help you better.

i had them run the diagnostic on it after i replaced the coils, plugs, and wires but nothing came up. when they ran it with the light on and it kept reading cylinder 4 missfire. so i had them print out what all it might be. it said, 1. ignition coil. 2. injector. 3. fuel pressure regulator. 4. intake valve.. i dont know much about these cars but ive heard that those are bad for burnt valves. if it helps it all started after i raced someone. thats why i thought maybe i burnt one of the coils. i had it up to 150mph and when i let out the service engine light came on. so i had the oil changed and the light turned off, and thats when this problem started. any ideas?

i took it to avolvo specialist and he told me that if the fuel filter had never been changed then that could be why im getting dry starts in the morning... he also said that the vibration im getting in the front while accelerating could be coming from a broken motor mount... i dont know and any replies would be greatly apreciated....

HELLO,IN MY EXPRENSE WITH THE S40'S WITH A LONG CRANK TIME. MORE THAN LIKELY ITS A BAD FUEL PSI REGULATOR. TO CHECK PULL OF THE VACUM LINE,IF ITS WET WITH FUEL AT ALL ITS BAD.AND FAR AS YOUR MISFIRE ONE OF THE TWO COILS MAY HAVE A HAIR LINE CRACK IN IT. PULL OFF THE RUBBER INSULATION AND CHECK FOR CRACKS.AND THIS CAR HAS NO ETM OR SUCH UNTIL 2004.5, ALSO THE VEMS (SOFTWARE UPGRADE)UPGRADE FOR THIS CAR WAS FOR 02 SENSOR AND ECT SENSOR CODES AS BEST I CAN REMEMBER. I HOPE I WAS SOME HELP(HARD TO DIAG. WITHOUT SEEING CAR)...
