Default Hard Acceleration

I know that this is question that is very opinionated and can go either way, but do you think it is bad for a car to accelerate hard. I am talking about auto transmitions too.
-thanks

Default RE: Hard Acceleration

Hi Keith,

Please note that my opinion is based on general knowledge & personal preference and may not be 100% accurate.

Hard acceleration can affect the tyre wear the most. It also depends on which phase of driving. If done from a complete stop, it would put more load on the engine, transmission, drive-train & tyres. If done once the car is moving forward, it would not put as much stress since the car has gained some momentum.

As for engine & transmission, as long as proper fluid level & condition are maintained, modern cars do not seem to exhibit much problem whether you accelerate hard or not. But I never red-lined my car; I would stay away at least 3-5 increments from the red-line on the tach.

And if you drive a turboed car, what is the fun if you do not accelerate hard? But of course, this has to be done withsafety-consciousness and is better doing it during the daytime when visibility is good.

I would read 2-3 more replies/opinions and then judge, to get perspective point of view.
