Hello! newbie with some questions!
Hello all, My amane is jeremy. I have a 99 s80 t6 with 102,000 miles on it. The dip stick handle broke and I am getting oil sparys all over the motor near the dip stick tube. Now I got a low oil pressure light along with a check engine light. Ran the code and it recomended changing the oil. Is the lack of seal causing the low oil pressure light to trigger? Thank you!
Have you managed to completely remove the base section of the dip stick extending down into the sump pan?
Assuming you can, all you need to do to test your low pressure theory is briefly block off the dip stick access hole with something that cannot fall into the hole and become non retrieveable then start your engine to see if the warning lights go out.
You may actually be low on oil now anyway if it's been spraying about as you describe.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
First off, don't even start the car if it has a broken dip stick and is blowing oil everywhere. Get another dip stick from somewhere. FCP Euro sells them as does the dealer.
Sounds like the car was NOT maintained and I rate the '99 S80 as the worse car that Volvo has ever made. MONEY PIT. If you are not handy, do your best to get rid of it ASAP.
Here is a test you can preform to see if the car has a bad PCV system. It may have an oil sump pick up issue as well. When you DO change the oil ONLY use a Volvo or Mann oil filter.
