how to check 1986 240 fault codes

I have searched and searched, and cannot find out how to check fault codes on my 1986 volvo 240

help!!

And...for a simple reason. The 240 did not get OBD (onboard diagnostics) until 1989 when they switched to LH2.4 Jetronic. For your LH2.2 86, you'll have to get a digital volt/multi-meter and a manual and do it the old fashioned way.
