If you could have tuned modded Volvo, what year and model would it be?
I'm coming back from years of being sick, divorce, etc. and I'm lucky and glad to be alive. I've gotten my '94 940 Regina Wagon on the road, and I'm the owner of an '01 XC70.
I love the RWD models, and if I had a winning powerball ticket, I'd have a fleet of bricks, but if you could pick one model of Volvo to work on slowly, upgrade to a pretty sporty, but daily driver, stock motor-not say an LS1 swap, what would it be?
I have a love affair with the '94-'95 BOSCH parts 940 wagons, but I'd also consider a 740/760 turbo intercooler. I'm thinking DOHC redblock...something manageable though, I can't do a frame up resto type thing, but I can work slowly on it over time.
My thoughts are to slowly stalk craigslist as I'm not in a hurry, and see what I can find for building a nice ride w/some mild upgrades.
I might consider a post '01V70, my XC drives like a truck, ride height, etc. again in ideal circumstances, see "lots of money" I'd have a super tuned fleet, and a lifted XC70 similar to that bronze sema model IPD put out a few years back...
What say you? I know the 240 is an icon, and I think I want to stay at least no older than '85 for parts availability, but unless I could swap out seat that don't kill my back, the 240 isn't for me.
