Default Interior night lighting

On probably any 2009 Volvo, the dash board lights come on at night
and the radio display window goes from white with black letters to black with white letters.
I figure there must be a photocell somewhere.
Does anyone know where it might be located?
Or, if I'm wrong, could you explain how this happens.

The sensor is located in the center of the dash near where the windshield meets the dash. It is the same module as the flashing LED when the car is locked.
