Default IPD ripoff alert

So last year, I installed the Stonguard headlight protection on my 2002 XC70 wagon....and the chip upgrade....and some other stuff. This spring I walked into my garage and, low and behold, both headlight lenses are cracked. Long cracks with no impact on both sides....so I suspect a heat expansion problem and contact IPD about it. "YES, it can happen and we have a disclaimer now on our website, plus we no longer carry Stonguard" SO, I ask them to replace the 500.00 ea. headlights and the 450.00 labor to remove the front bumper for the installation and ALL they would do is offer me their dealer cost on the lamps and no help with the install.

BULL!!!

I talked to Lucky, and Bob S. there and they are not budging on this one. Off to court we go!!

Because? Is "Scott" the owner or something? I have been talking to these guys for 3 days and, frankly, I'm not too interested in getting myself riled up at yet another guy there that is going to have the same answers.

Thanks for the suggestion, but could you elaborate?

Dude you just got to call back and ask for Scott. He can help you, if not then at least you tried.

Scott Hart, (Hart) is his last name I believe I think it is right. He is like head hancho.

As I suspected, I called and left two messages for Scott with no replies. Lucky told me to "call the manufacturer....if you bought some floor polish from Safeway, and it ruined your floor, would you hold Safeway responsible?"

SO, I called Stonguard, who told me to CALL 3M and ask about their guarantee, who LAUGHED and said that I should call the company that sold it to me BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T GIVE COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS ON USAGE.

This is just rediculous. AND expensive...but if I have to fly from Calgary to Oregon to fight this in small claims court I will AND get my expenses paid in the process.

The real kicker is, between my P1800ES and the XC70, I have spent a lot of money with IPD. Some customer support!

He could be on vacation. I would call and ask for him again. This isn't like IPD.

Well, quite frankly, I'm shocked too. Those guys have always been so good in the past...but I guess, when it comes to 1500.00 worth of reparations, they don't have the stomach for it....even at the expense of losing a good customer...or a few dozen. The real stinker is that I bought these guards just so I wouldn't have this very expensive repair to do, and HERE I AM! Ah.... People are so quick to sell you a product and run the other way when it fails. Sickening.

I will try Scott one more time on Wednesday, but I have already ordered the paperwork for a court action.

Today, 8-28-2006, I received a new pair of headlight assemblies to replace the damaged ones. It did, indeed, take a call to Scott Hart at IPD and a rather long discussion about the problem, but in the end, Scott made good on the damage and I thank him for stepping up to the plate.

Call and find out. Because IPD is a great company, and the majority of people have had no problems with them. That is including myself on a few orders. I had no problems with them.
