Default Its CRAZY HOT here in Kansas, and my A/C is acting up...Help!

Hey all, long time not post. I am hoping to get some insight to an A/C problem I'm having with my 01 C70. I had much success in the past with all the knowledgeable volvo owners on here and am hoping to strike it rich again.

My A/C works fine....when I'm driving. When I stop it gets cool to warm. Not hot but definetly not cold. I noticed today when I turned off my A/C it made some weird squealing noise for a bit, probably 5-8 seconds. My hubby has charged my A/C and said something about wrong pressure in the low line, blah blah blah. Didn't mean anything to me so I can't remember exactly what it was. He is thinking I need a new compressor. But with a compressor running $800 for a new one, I don't want to get one unless that IS the problem. Someone else said something about fans not blowing??? Does anyone have any suggestions before I go spending money on something that may or may not be the problem.

Thanks so very much in advance.

I had seem the compression fail on some of the P2 (S60, S80...), but unlikely on the 01 C70 (but possible). most of the time is low on freon due to leaks. To confirm the problem, u could do a few diagnosis to confirm it first. make sure there no leak of freon first, then hook up the a/c machine to check for the high/low side of different.
