Hi guys I’m in desperate need of help as there’s no videos anywhere on how to fix my issue. The key in my Volvo is stuck in the ignition(stuck on)and I couldn’t get it to turn off. I had to pull the fuel pump relay fuse and disconnect the battery. I have no idea how to get the key free from the ignition and what the solution would be. It’s worth a shot in the dark🙏
on some cars the key is part of the steering column lock so try turning the wheel slightly to take the pressure off the lock then see if the key will turn. On other cars (like the Gen 1 S40s) the shifter position can do the same thing so you may try doing a shifter row or manually popping out the shifter release button (on the shifter handle). Not sure which is in play for your car but its likely to be one or the other.

Would be easier (until you get the key out) to undo the 2 screws holding the ignition switch onto the column lock. Then (if the column is not locked) you can start the car using a screwdriver in the slot of the switch.
The shifter has to be in park to turn the key back - is it in park? Shift **** pushed all the way down?
