Default My S60 MY23 does not roll after brake release

Hi guys,

I am creating this topic as I have the following issue and I can’t find any info about it online.

I noticed that when I am at a full stop, let’s say a red light, when my foot is on the brake, most of the time the engine shuts off. So far so good, I am aware that you can’t disable the start/stop function. The problem is that after I take my foot off the brake, the engine turns on but the car still needs one more second or so until it starts to roll. It is like the brakes are still on, although I am not pressing anything. There are basically more or less 2 seconds of “dead time” until the vehicle moves, after I take my foot off the brake. Which is really annoiyng when trying to merge in a round about, let’s say.

What is even more curious is that a friend of mine with an xc60 ( diesel ), my22, does not have this issue. Immediatly after I take the foot off the brake the car starts moving.

Why am I experiencing this strange issue with mine? Anyone encountered something like this? The autohold feature is turned off, so it has nothing to do with that.

Many thanks for the help.

You can disable it by putting the trans in manual mode, the engine does not shut off at a stop. (just have to remember to change back) My 23 xc60 if I choose manual when stopping them put it back in auto before accelerating again, the engine stays on.

Thanks for the tip, it works! Any idea though why I have the issue, nevertheless? It seems curious to me that it does it on my car and not on another one.
