Just purchased this Volvo today and having some problems already.
The speedometer does not work and also the abs light is on. i drive the car and miles do not register plus I can not tell how fast I am going.

give them the car model and they may be able to get you handled but I just went through this with my 2000 V70 xc... $250 for a refurbished abs module and I am golden... had the same problem to start, no odom. and abs light on... then trany wouldn't reset transmission when I stopped so it would try to start me out in 3rd or 4th gear. I had to manually shift into low to get going. Replaced my abs mod. and everything is all good. actually drives like a new car. snappy shifts and nothing else weird.

They may need the numbers off of your actual abs unit which is a little difficult to get to but I pulled my old one and reinstalled the new one in under an hour. Let me know if you have any questions. More then happy to get a phone call to even walk you through it. Dealer wanted $1100 to do the work with a refurb and 1700 for a factory new one.

 

Just had a thought... check your car against the recall list through volvo. Could be a wheel speed sensor. I had mine replace under the recall at 100k roughly.
