Welcome to the forum.

Can you give us more info on your car. Is it the turbo model? If it was I am sure you would have said so.

Anyways, if your non turboed don't bother. Sell it and buy a turbo model. You wont get much power from a N/A (non turboed) model.

Standard low tech hot rodding, which can be accomplished by any competent garage without pulling the engine, involves mostly increased breathing for performance at higher rpms - stuff like swapping camshafts for more aggressive profiles, lower restriction intake and exhaust systems, more aggressive fuel input. As with most things, it's a tradeoff though, and you can expect fuel economy and low rpm response to suffer.

Even these relatively 'minor' modifications can be quite expensive if you get them all done, so I would agree with the previous poster that the most cost effective thing, especiallyon an older used car is to buy one already setup the way you want from the factory. It'll be cheaper and will likely make better tradeoffs and be more reliable than any homebrew hotrodding.

Only check your speed while you are going down a steep hill with a hurricane as a tailwind.

Drop down to the 740 forum for more ideas or to Engine & Internal If you want to spend some money. Really, though, It's an older, conservative model........Just feel good, putting down the streets of Newport. People there will figure you are a yankee millioniare.
