Need a new windshield - any recommendations?
My '97 850 GLT has a windshield with over 200K miles on it, and I discovered a HUGE 18 inch crack in it and there’s no chance of repairing it. Has anyone good – or bad – stories to share about shops replacing their windshield?
How many miles does the car have? When was the windshield last replaced? It's probably best if you ask around your town. Most shops can do the job with no problem, it's pretty straight forward.
I just replace the windshield on my 98 S70 and took a chance on a company called glass doctor. They quoted me a price of about $320 with new windshield and seal and about $240 without a seal. We set up the appointment for 9:30 the next morning for my home address. The guy arrived at 9:28, looked at the windshield and seal and said he would try to replace it with old seal. He did and came in under price for the windshield and labor at $212. The brand of glass was pinkerton or something like that. Nationwide warranty, too. I guess when you get good service, you want to pass it along.
