Needing to get a new car, any help
So, I currently own 1997 volvo 850 but not only does it need various repairs but there are issues that concern it with my sister (She owned it and I bought it from her, but there are issue concerning getting it registered etc). So I am thinking the best bet is to get a new car.
I wanted to see what people thought here about what cars might be good, I do not have much money. I liked my 850 a lot and would like some nice and reliable again.
Any suggestions?

TL: DR Bought car from sister, but registration etc stayed under her. Finally, after a while, got her to give the title etc. Only title was destroyed by flood. Send in request to DMV to get a duplicate, they can not find it (??). In another state now, so I have to figure out how to get the car registered under me...Something that looks quite complex.

Just my 2 cents but without more information your question is very difficult, or easy to answer. "Newish Volvo" could mean a low milage '2012. Or a high milage '2009, right? As you should know any Volvo's desirability is highly dependent on how well it's been maintained. A '98 w/200,000 miles that gets bi-yearly trips to a dealer is most likely a better bet than a '10 w/ 100/000 miles that has never seen a wrench.
If your 850 is in very good shape it may be worth the effort to title it since you know the history - assuming that the history you know is good.
regarding others you can do a search - early S80 don't get much love and early S40 seem to have checkered reviews. Find one you like and ask to see the records - if they are on top of it they'll have them - many people tend to use the same mechanic/ dealer in which case your work is easy. Regardless, if you are not familiar with a car you may want to take it to a shop specializing in Volvo's. Most will give it a thorough going over and let you know what needs done- you can then decide what to do yourself, have done, or to walk away.
Without knowing what you want to spend, thats the best I can offer.
